After a pass-interference call against the Lions gave the Vikings the ball at the 23, Percy Harvin ran for 14 yards, making it first-and-goal on the Lions’ 9. But the defense held for three straight plays — finishing with Kyle VandenBosch’s sack on Christian Ponder — that made Minnesota settle for a 27-yard field goal by Blair Walsh to extend the Vikings’ lead to 13-3.
So far, the defense has been decent — aside from the two pass-interference penalties that have helped the Vikings get up the field quickly. The Lions’ offense still hasn’t had a sustained drive, which will be a priority if they are to get back in the game.
