After the Lions went four-and-out, the Vikings’ Marcus Sherels had a 77-yard punt return to put Minnesota ahead, 20-6. That makes both opening special-teams plays of each half being returned for touchdowns. It’s also the fourth special-teams score the Lions have allowed in the past two games.
The Lions defense hasn’t allowed a touchdown, but they find themselves down 14 points because of the lacking special teams. This becomes a crucial possession for the Lions offense to provide an answer and keep them in the game.
