The one day Ann Arbor goes green

Connor had a gymnastics meet in Ann Arbor Saturday, which meant we witnessed the city of the maize and blue turning green and … well, I’m not sure what you’d call it, but whatever the color of spilled beer is.

Truth is, it was a hoot — from the students crowding front porches and doing keg-stands at 11:30 a.m., to the string quartet playing for tips on Main Street as we wandered downtown after the meet. When we walked by, the quartet was playing “The Rainbow Connection.”

On the scale of Irish musical history, that’s not exactly “Danny Boy” — but then again, what color is Kermit the Frog?
