Somehow I missed the news that one of the members of One Direction was making googly eyes at Justin Bieber’s mom. The informant was Selena Gomez, so it must be true.
The crew at WKQI-FM’s Mojo in the Morning, of course, was completely up to date, and Mojo raised the subject when Bieber dialed Channel 95.5 Friday morning to plug his new album. The conversation ended prematurely when Bieber hung up, an outcome that was probably a lot more entertaining than listening to Bieber talk about how this is the best and most meaningful album he’ll ever make right up until the next time he cuts an album.
Here’s how things slid off the cliff. I especially like the part where Bieber puffs his chest out and calls Mojo “bro.”
MOJO: I saw that you have established a bit of a friendship with the guys from One Direction.
BIEBER: I mean, yeah, definitely, somewhat, they were in town a little while ago and they came over and stuff, yeah, they’re good kids.
MOJO: Do you worry about Harry, uh, you know, when he’s around your mom, because it seems like he likes older women?
BIEBER: Do I wonder what?
MOJO: Do you worry about Harry around your mom since he likes older women?
BIEBER: I think you should worry about me with your mom, bro.
MOJO: Around my mom?
BIEBER: Yeah.
MOJO: Justin, my mom’s dead, so unfortunately that wouldn’t work.
MOJO: Hey, this is the moment where the interview goes south.
