Speaker after speaker at the Democratic National Convention repeated the claim that the private economy created 5 million new jobs under President Barack Obama.
That’s not quite a lie, but not quite true either.
CNN’s fact check says that while 4.5 million jobs were created, 5 million were lost during the same period. That’s a net loss of 500,000 jobs.
As for Michelle Obama’s claim that the new jobs were quality jobs, that’s not true, CNN says.
Most new jobs being created are at the low end of the pay scale, and many are temporary positions.
