Fortune named its 40 under 40 “hottest rising stars” this month — and General Motors Co.’s Dan Ammann was ranked seventh. The 39-year-old native New Zealander has been in the job since April, when the company’s prior CFO left. Last fall. he helped pitch GM’s successful IPO to investors, the magazine noted.
He’s in good company: Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, 27, is No. 1 — and one slot ahead of Ammann at No. 6 is Brian Deese, 33, a White House aide who worked on the GM and Chrysler Group LLC restructuring in 2009 and is now deputy National Economic Council director. Also on the list: University of Michigan alums Raj Shah, 38, who is the U.S. Agency for International Development director and Google CEO Larry Page.
