Shelby American marks 50th anniversary with 800hp GT500

Pulling no punches after 50 years in business, Shelby American unveiled a special edition 800-hp GT500 ‘Super Snake’ Mustang at NAIAS. A limited run of 50 black and 50 white GT500s will be offered by Shelby with 750-hp as standard, and 800-hp optional.

As well as the GT500, Shelby rolled out a GT350 Super Snake edition with up to 624-hp and a GTS model with up to 475-hp. Each version will also be limited to 50 black and 50 white examples.

Pricing for the GTS starts around $32,000.

“A lot of companies never make it to their first 50 years,” said John Luft, Shelby American president. “We are proud of our history since Carroll Shelby started his successful race career with Ford.”

Shelby American will be touring the country for the next 8 months promoting its new product line, added Luft.
