Great day on Belle Isle

As someone who lives in the city of Detroit, I couldn’t be prouder of the job Detroit Grand Prix organizers have done here on Belle Isle. The island park is clean and visitor friendly. Rode my bike here and was really impressed with all the landscaping work and lighting improvements. Some paving also got done. Now it’s up to the city to keep up on the maintenance.

Don’t hold your breath.

As we’re approaching the 3:30 start, I got a feeling we’ll have a great race this afternoon. I’ll be blogging all the action and giving you as much insight as I can. Keep an eye on turns 9 and 9. There’s only about 300 feet between the windy stretch. Should make for some interesting exchanges among the drivers.

If you want to get out here for the race and need tickets, you better act fast. As of noon today, there were only about 800 grandstand seats left. There are also general admission seats for $25. Kids ages 12 and under can get in free with a ticket-bearing adult.
