Woodward Dream Cruise

Friday a warm-up to the Dream Cruise

If today’s turn out on Woodward is any indication, then the official Woodward Dream Cruise is going to be a whopping success. Legendary M-1 was a parade of hot rods, classic cars, Motor City muscle, pony cars, Mopars, GTOs, 442s, heavy Chevies and more on Friday and Friday night.
It was hard to tell who had more fun, cruisers or the crowds watching, applauding and snapping away with their point-and-shoot cameras.
They weren’t the only ones capturing the parade; helicopters from nearly every TV station in town flew the WDC parade route between Eight Mile and Pontiac, with special attention given to the area of heaviest traffic between 12 Mile and Maple roads.
Police moved in at 10 p.m. to shuttle traffic to the mile roads, blockading side streets so residential neighborhoods didn’t have to worry about abnormal amounts of traffic.
While police were highly visible, there didn’t seem to be many problems with only a few vehicles stopped for speeding, peeling rubber or jackrabbit starts.
Within an hour or so, Woodward will be its normal self, but the Michigan’s Muscle Car Mardi Gras starts again Saturday morning. See you there.
