Woodward Dream Cruise

'He-velle' and 'She-velle' a match made in Chevy

Brian Fry didn’t have to fight the Dream Cruise traffic in Pontiac Saturday morning.

That’s because the 52-year-old Waterford native was already on Woodward– and has been since Friday morning.

“I spent the night over in my trailer,” said Fry, who is president of the North Oakland Bowties Car Club. “It’s kind of like my R.V. today. I set up an air mattress and everything.”

Fry, a GM employee, founded the club in 2003. He and his wife, Lori, own matching 1971 and ’72 Chevy Chevelles — affectionately called “He-velle” and “She-velle” — that they display and ride throughout the week.

“It’s what we all remember from growing up,” Fry said. “Being able to do this now is heaven on earth.”
