Dream Cruise DJ rocks out to classics

Beth Shattuck loves classic cars and classic tunes. No wonder, then, that the 58-year-old doesn’t mind working 23 hours between Friday and Saturday at the Woodward Dream Cruise in Pontiac as a DJ.

It’s her favorite event because it’s so massive, she said.

“They come from all over the world,” she said. “My daughter was just in France and saw the cruise on TV there.”

There’s no great secret to being a successful cruise DJ, she said, besides playing “stuff everyone wants to dance to.”

Shattuck said Bob Seger is a hit with most cruisers. “He’s an icon,” she said.

She plays some country, but avoids newer tunes.

“There are no new oldies,” she said.
