Things haven’t changed much for Barbara Hrynyk.
The 73-year-old Ferndale resident can’t remember life without poodle skirts, fuzzy dice or classic cars — and she’s representing all three at this year’s Dream Cruise in Pontiac.
Hrynyk is clad in the 1950s garb for the 10th year in a row and displaying her 1963 Stingray because it’s what she enjoys.
“It’s just so much fun,” she said. “The cars, the boys; that’s how we met people when I was young.”
She spends most cruises with her family and 9-year-old granddaughter, Alexa Mathes, will have a matching outfit when she joins her grandma later this afternoon.
Hrynyk started dressing up for the cruise after her clogging team purchased the outfit for a show. She said it’s become a bit of a fan-favorite at the cruise.
“If I don’t wear it now I get chewed out,” she said.
