There’s a pattern to my normal Saturday night — it’s predictable and relaxed, which is just the way I like it. I usually catch up on my shows. But this past Saturday was the antithesis of that and it was nice to step away from my normal life for a bit.
I had a photo shoot with Brandy from Brandy Nicole Photography. I scheduled the photo shoot because I needed a headshot. My friend, Shannon, from Detroit Fashion News is organizing The Village of Rochester Hills La Femme Fall Fashion Show and the casting call is this Sunday.
Crazy, right? Clearly I am not a model and already into my 30s, but it’s for charity, and I think I might have fun.
I was very nervous at the photo shoot. I had that tight-lipped smile that had “anxious” written all over it. But near the end, I relaxed a bit and ended up having fun. I also left the photo shoot with a new appreciation for models because it is work to look natural while posing. Who knew?
After we “wrapped” — very celeb-like — we met up with a friend of Brandy’s and Lynsday from Cordial Punch and had an impromptu girls night. Not like a quick drink so we are home by “Grey’s Anatomy” girls’ night, but more like those that resembled my pre-children days. I did, however, leave way before last call because obviously those days are long gone.
It was a lot of fun to step out of my normal life for a little while. I enjoyed getting all dolled up, taking some photos, and heading out with the girls for the night. I get so wrapped up in the details of being a mom and looking at fun in play date terms (manners, safety, etc.) or in terms of responsibility (I must be home by 10:00pm if I’m going to have the energy to be a good mom). I needed this fun little break from reality.
Have you taken a break from your regularly scheduled life lately?
