Looking suave in a tuxedo and fedora, hometown hero Kid Rock, backed by the lush 70-piece Detroit Symphony Orchestra , under the baton of Music Director Leonard Slatkin, belted out a bevy of hits including “Bawitdaba,” “Devil Without a Cause,” “Purple Sky” and “All Summer Long” during a sweeping sold-out fundraising concert, that racked up a million dollars for the cash-strapped orchestra, at the Fox… Continue reading

Evolution of the modern consumer?
This is a detail of a graffiti mural painted on the alley side of the old Grinnell Piano Building in the historic Corktown section of Detroit. I don’t know who the artist is, but I like the commentary, which I interpret as depicting the evolution of people into capitalists and consumers.

I have also learned that, the former being true, you just never know when a ‘real moment’… Continue reading

Hanging out in the neighborhood
So this photo didn’t run with today’s story on Marathon buying up homes in the neighborhood it almost surrounds. But it is by far one of my favorites moments from hanging around the neighborhoods, which were filled with families and kids playing outside together.
