Evolution of the modern consumer?

This is a detail of a graffiti mural painted on the alley side of the old Grinnell Piano Building in the historic Corktown section of Detroit. I don’t know who the artist is, but I like the commentary, which I interpret as  depicting the evolution of people into capitalists and consumers.
