Street Beauty

A cadre of internationally-known street artists has been leaving its mark around town, splashing eye-popping designs in cartoon colors on buildings in the name of beauty.  Racking up some 60-70 works since starting in May, the Detroit Beautification Project, as it’s known, peppers the city and neighboring Hamtramck with vivid murals, like this piece spanning one wall of the Precision Tumbling Co, a metal parts finisher on Joseph Campau south of Six Mile in the ‘D’.

"I love photojournalism because you can preserve forever the most ephemeral moments of human emotion and truth and reveal the magic of everyday life," says Baker.
