Our Fine Feathered Friends

I’m not sure who had more fun during a recent visit by The Rainbow Feathers Bird Club to Hutchinson Elementary/ Middle School in Detroit; the kids, the birds or the photographer.  Check out more “Aww” moments in a photo gallery at: http://apps.detroitnews.com/apps/multimedia/gallery.php?id=15981

Anchorman 2 in the house!

So I am sitting on the floor at the Georgia Dome, minding my own business, photographing Michigan’s impressive run in the NCAA Final Four and who do I see sitting in the stands? None other than San Diego’s own, anchormen royalty, Ron Burgandy on Saturday night and then Brick Tamland and Brian Fantana at the championship … Continue Reading →

Make it rain...TIGER HOME RUNS!

Just in case you were ever curious, like me, what was up there in the fountain, before the water is added, in center field to make those home run showers come raining down in Comerica Park…now, can someone please get me down.

Bunny Ears

Sometimes you’re at a big event like the NCAA Tournament and you get an amazing picture of the big moment, the big play, the perfect picture…this isn’t that, but it still makes me smile.   MSU point guard Keith Appling appears to get ’bunny eared’ by Spartan head coach Tom Izzo during the MSU, Valparaiso game Thursday … Continue Reading →

Holy Jet Propulsion Batman!

From the ”cape crusaders” first joyride, protecting the streets of Gotham to the latest incarnation, the Tumbler, there is,  arguable no car more identifiable then the Batmobile and visitors to the 61st Autorama in Detroit got to see three of them.  Check out more pics of The Dark Knights rides as well as other amazing vehicles at:   … Continue Reading →

Pink indeed!

Ouch! During the performance of her hit song ‘Just Like a Pill’, Pink scratches across her abdomen while singing the lyric “I can’t stay on your morphine, cuz it’s making me itch.” The scratches across Pinks abdomen were hard enough to still be red two songs later.  Check out more pics of Pink as well … Continue Reading →

What the heck was that?

While working at the News, I’ve covered numerous adrenaline filled X-Games type sports, I’ve been to several big time wrestling,  ”entertainment”, sporting spectaculars and I’ve even been assigned to go to a gentlemen’s club to photograph a dancer once but never had I been assigned to cover all three in one event.  Last week I went … Continue Reading →

Dilla Day

One of my favorite things about being a photographer, in particular, a newspaper photographer, is that everyday is different.   More than not, we are walking into an environment we haven’t been before and it is our job to take what we are given and make it work photographically, whether it is a set-up type portrait or just being able … Continue Reading →

Finally new carpeting!

The Detroit Lions are upgrading their turf, with FieldTurf Classic HD, for the first time since Ford Field opened in 2002.  It looks great but aren’t wood floors the “in” thing right now?
