In a move that shouldn’t surprise anyone, the Pistons aren’t bringing back Terrico White, notifying him late last night.
White broke the news via his twitter account, tweeting:
Just got the news from
@detroitpistons that they letting me go. Really didn’t get a chance because of injury. Putting it in God hands now.
White, after an impressive Summer League showing, broke his foot the first exhibition game against the Miami Heat. His rehab went slower than expected, and most assumed he would go to the Developmental League to get some real playing time.
White, selected 36th out of Ole Miss, wouldn’t have gotten much of a chance to play anyways, with the Pistons’ crowded backcourt.
Surprisingly to everyone in the Pistons organization, he declined to do so and never appeared in a game. Most were shocked by his less-than-rigorous work ethic throughout the process, so while it wasn’t a foregone conclusion he wouldn’t return, it didn’t look good, either.
Second-round draft picks like Jonas Jerebko or even Mehmet Okur are rarities; most of them fall by the wayside.
