Gilbertology in Lakerland?

The Lakers need a perimeter scorer to give Kobe Bryant some relief. Gilbert Arenas can score in his sleep.

Arenas has been working out in Orlando, trying to get his body right. Orlando GM Otis Smith told me he talks to Arenas daily, making sure his spirits are up. Ironic, considering Smith released Arenas before the season but the two still have a strong relationship, dating back to their days in Golden State.

The Lakers have apparently given Arenas a look over the weekend and are contemplating signing him. They desperately need help to open things up for Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol in the post, and if Arenas is right, he could be the critical addition in the Western Conference.

Bryant publicly approves and since it looks like the prospect of Dwight Howard landing in Los Angeles aren’t very likely, could Arenas and all his eccentricities, be the savior in Lakerland?
