ESPN's Chad Ford chimes in on Pistons pick Drummond

Here’s what ESPN’s Chad Ford has to see, via the ESPN website, about UCONN center Andre Drummond (the Pistons’ No. 9 pick):

“I think this is where the reward starts to outweigh the risk for the Pistons in terms of taking Drummond. And he winds up in a perfect situation in Detroit. The Pistons need a shot-blocker and rebounder in the paint to pair with Greg Monroe. Drummond is a project, but he has as much upside as anyone else in the draft other than Anthony Davis. The question, and it’s a real one, is whether he’ll reach it.”

My take: As you see, Ford calls Drummond a “project” who has a lot to prove. Sounds like desire will be a major issue for Drummond. But he could turn over a new leaf and show a more driven, hungrier side. Only time will tell, just like most picks in this draft. I personally like the pick because the Pistons simply needed a big man.
