Seems somewhat fitting that my first post on the new blogging platform will be a goodbye to George Bullard, whose farewell post was left on the old blog.
I was crushed to learn he is leaving us. George and I virtually built the Politics Blog together. I was blogger number 37. In the intervening years, well over a hundred co-bloggers passed through. Some stayed longer than others. Some of the early recruits, like Mako, are still here. But George and I anchored the content as the experiment of newspaper blogging unfolded.
Indeed, though we never received the credit for it, we were pioneers of the form. When we started most people didn’t know what a blog was. Now, blogging has become a standard of the industry.
Of course, I wish him well in his future endeavors, but I also wish he wouldn’t leave. I’m going to miss him.
