Top dogs in politics

David Axelrod tweeted this photo last night. The Obama’s dog Bo has a very good life.

Meanwhile, nobody has forgotten that a dog who belonged to the guy who wants to be the next resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue didn’t get to ride in such style. The Romney’s claim their dog led a happy life but today a new wrinkle on the story alleges Romney’s dog Seamus ran away after his harrowing road trip. The author advises:

Mitt Romney may not have told the whole truth about the scandalous tale of his Irish Setter, Seamus, being strapped to the roof of his car during a 12-hour family road trip to Canada. According to a trusted Politicker tipster, two of Mr. Romney’s sons had an off-record conversation with reporters where they revealed the dog ran away when they reached their destination on that infamous journey in 1983.

No named sources in this account, so not vouching for its veracity, but I have long wondered why Mitt never pushed back on this narrative by releasing family photos of poor old Seamus comfortably lounging in front of the family fireplace in his old age.

In related news, one of the fastest growing super PACKs in our nation is Dogs Against Romney. These canines, just like Bo, ride inside the car.
