Lascivious slurs losing Limbaugh advertisers

Rushbo finally crossed so far over the line of human decency that advertisers are fleeing Limbaugh’s radio show. The latest of seven to date, is ProFlowers, who “said on Twitter that posts it received about Limbaugh’s remarks affected its advertising strategy.” The other six who dumped Rush are “mortgage lender Quicken Loans, mattress retailers Sleep Train and Sleep Number, software maker Citrix Systems Inc., online data backup service provider Carbonite and online legal document services company LegalZoom.”

Two of these dropped out even after Limbaugh’s lame excuse for an apology. He said he didn’t intend it as a personal attack on Ms. Fluke and he regrets his choice of words. How exactly is calling a woman a “slut” and “prostitute” for voicing her opinion on a political issue not a personal attack? And what better choice of words are there for calling her a whore?

Furthermore, Limbaugh’s whole line of attack is premised on a lie. He claimed she was the one who brought up sexual conduct, but in fact, she never mentioned sex in her testimony. Watch the video and read the transcript[pdf] and show me where she mentioned it at all.

She was talking about gynecological health issues that are treated with birth control pills. And even if she was talking about pregnancy prevention, so what? How do you make the leap to assume every woman who takes birth control pills for that reason is promiscious? You take the same amount of pills whether you are in a monogamous relationship or not.

Furthermore, where does Limbaugh come off in criticizing anyone about their morals? We’re talking about a guy who has had four wives, multiple girlfriends, was caught coming back from a known center of the sex trade, the Dominican Republic, with illegally obtained Viagra and was convicted of illegally obtaining massive amounts of Oxycotin. Rush obviously based his judgement of this young woman on his own immoral lifestyle.

Oh and by the way, taxpayer’s are not footing the bill for this contraceptive care rule. So add that to the list of Limbaugh’s false innuendos that he’s using to justify his own vile rhetoric.
