Reading the tea leaves at SCOTUS

I’ve been watching nearly the whole world blogging about SCOTUS for the last three days. So much breathless parsing of every word of the oral arguments on “Obamacare.” Can’t seem to get worked up about it myself.

I find it adorable that so many smart people are so earnestly analyzing every utterance, voice inflection and facial expression. They’re offering solemn advice and proposing actually quite good counter arguments, as if any of it would make a bit of difference. SCOTUS is a world unto itself and I’m pretty sure the Justices made their personal decisions on the matter long ago.

In any event, any time I’m tempted to join in the fray I remember Kelo v. City of New London and walk away. There’s simply no way to predict the outcome of a SCOTUS case nor is there any way to change it.
