The GOP's war on women: Michigan edition

Why are Republican men so afraid to let women speak? Furthering the national Republican agenda of attacking a woman’s right to make private decisions about what happens to her own body, I see the Republican men in Lansing have been busy rolling out a spate of proposed regulations that only apply to women’s reproductive rights. Then, the Republicans in power forbid two duly elected woman Representatives from speaking in public on any legislation, because they dared to challenge those ill-advised, meddling regulations.

There was nothing indecorous or offensive about Rep. Lisa Brown’s comment. What’s offensive is the creepy fixation Republican men have on making rules about the vaginas and uteri of every woman in America. As the old saying goes, they should keep their grubby laws off our bodies.

But if they truly believe they have some moral right to regulate women’s vaginas and reproductive organs, then I’d like to know what their justification was to prevent Rep. Barb Byrum from introducing similar regulations on vasectomies. Again, she’s a duly elected member of that legislative body and deserves to have her proposal given an up or down vote. As the other old saying goes, good for the goose, good for the gander.
