Sometimes Michigan’s “Nerd in Chief” surprises me in a good way. So to give credit where it’s due, bravo for Gov. Snyder’s veto of three voter suppression bills this week. (Details at the link.) These three bills represented the worst of far right extremist efforts to prevent those voters they consider to be “undesirables” from exercising their right to cast a ballot. And by “undesirables” they mean, people who don’t agree with them. (More praise from the left and a copy of Gov. Snyder’s letter to the legislature here.)
Never thought I’d be saying this, but thanks Governor Snyder for doing the right thing. It’s heartening to see at least one Republican leader who is willing to uphold this important right for all Americans. I’d like to think it’s because he recognizes “voter fraud” as defined by the far right is a myth.
