It's not a black thing

There have been 641 cases of municipal bankruptcy since Chapter 9 was created. Not all of them are cities that are minority-majority cities. There is no Gary, Ind., Cleveland, Ohio, or Detroit, Mich., story to tell. There is no white flight or moving out of business and losing of the tax base.

Cities can’t do Chapter 11 and just go out of business, so Harrisburg, Penn., Jefferson County, Ala., Central Falls, R.I. and San Bernardino, Calif., are using bankruptcy to turn things around and no one is saying that white people ruined these cities.

Detroit is no different than all the cities that are going bankrupt. The times we live in made the old rules unworkable and there must be a new set of rules to operate under.
