When Jennifer Granholm rocked the house

I’m late to this, but wanted to add a bit to Debbie Dingell’s excellent post on former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm’s barnburner of a speech at the Democratic National Convention.

Sure she was loud. She had to be loud to be heard over the deafening cheers in the house. She electrified the crowd and not just in the arena. My twitter stream was flooded with cheering. Even the terminally jaded DC media were momentarily shaken out of their deeply embedded cynicism. A big wow from Ed Henry at Fox is like the sound of a thousand delegates cheering.

And I’m not surprised there were men mocking her. It’s been my life experience that many men, especially conservative men, feel threatened by a strong woman. I imagine the naysayers were mainly Romney supporters who were upset that she trounced their candidate so thoroughly.

If somehow you missed her speech, you can see a few minutes of the highlights here. [photo via]
