State of the State: Right-to-What?

With anti-right to work Big Labor protestors buzzing the Capital grounds before Governor Snyder’s State of  State address Wednesday, the media was braced for RTW fireworks inside the House chamber. But One Tough Nerd didn’t mention RTW in his comments – opaquely referring only to “a divisive time” at the end of the year “that I wish didn’t happen.”

More interesting, however, was that Senator Minority Leader Gretchen Whitmer didn’t mention right-to-work in her Democratic response either.

But if the RTW double-cross is the foundation for the left’s anger this session – and Whitmer’s gubernatorial campaign against Snyder – then how come no mention? Perhaps because RTW is popular among Michigan voters according to a Detroit News poll by Steve Mitchell.

For all their talk about being the party of choice and the middle class, Democrats are uninterested in giving middle class workers the choice of whether to join a union.
