The sequestration of 2013

In no uncertain terms, if Congress can’t get a bill to President Obama, a cut of remarkable portions goes into effect for almost every agency in the federal government. From defense to doctors, we’re going to see what happens when we starve the beast.

If this were not a real situation, I’d say we should let the sequestration happen. Everyone gets punished, including your cat.

The military stands to take yet another unwelcome sacrifice, cutting deeply into their current battle with costs of TRICARE, losing benefits for returning troops, and also losing a step on the enemies unseen. China’s nerd warfare hacked Apple, and it’s obviously related to the SOTU speech about moving manufacturing to the US.

After all, if Apple moves away, then where will China get their iPad clone designs from? Let’s not forget R&D, where scientists study real threats to us, and the mundane world of disease control and prevention. There are good things we spend money on. We just need government representatives (not politicians) who will commit to fund these projects.
