Mayer Hawthorne 'Dreams' with Rock-afire Explosion

Ann Arbor’s Mayer Hawthorne hooks up with global animatronic superstars the Rock-afire Explosion in the video for “Dreaming,” the third clip off of his sophomore set “How Do You Do.”

The vid finds Hawthorne and several ladies enjoying a performance from the ShowBiz Pizza house band, and later imagining themselves jamming with Fatz Geronimo, Mitzi Mozzarella and the rest of the gang. Check out the clip here:

The Rock-afire Explosion became viral stars several years ago when this clip of the band performing Usher’s “Love in This Club” took off online. Since then, Rock-afire creator (and American genius) Aaron Fechter programmed the group doing several more versions modern hits, most notably this creepy, apocalyptic take on Arcade Fire’s “Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)” and this unexpectedly sweet version of Against Me!’s “Borne on the FM Waves of the Heart.”

Further down the Rock-afire rabbit hole, a documentary about the group and its fans was released in 2009.
