At this point I kind of wish Adele would drop a new mixtape bragging about her Billboard chart status. When Lil Wayne sold 1 million copies of “Tha Carter III” back in 2008, within a week he released a new version of “A Milli” addressing his chart status and thanking his fans. Certainly Adele realizes how long she’s been at No. 1. Speak on it, ‘Delly!
Anyway, here you have it: Adele’s “21″ is No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart for a 22nd week, adding another 297,000 sales to its tally, bringing its total to 7.65 million. It has been No. 1 for nine straight weeks, and is probably only a few more sales frames away from being elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There’s also talk of sending it into space, because officials figure that if there are other life forms out there, they too deserve a good cry over “Someone Like You.” Why deprive them any longer?
Elsewhere in the top 10, fun. enjoys a No. 3 debut, while Whitney Houston albums continue to sell strongly, taking the Nos. 2, 6 and 9 positions on the chart. Tyga and Chiddy Bang also land Top 10 debuts.
