Photos: Coachella Day 1

It was a wild day, both weather- and music-wise, Friday at day one of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif.

Temperatures at the fest are routinely in the 80s or 90s, yet Friday saw temps in the 50s and 60s, along with high winds and scattered showers. Not quite the desert oasis people have come to expect.

The weather changed the scope of the fest — bikini tops were traded in for hooded sweatshirts — but the music was red-hot as always, with bands like M83, Pulp and a reunited Refused topping the bill. Meanwhile, EDM made a major dent in the festival schedule, with Swedish House Mafia closing the main stage and drawing mammoth crowds while acts like Feed Me, R3hab, Madeon and Afrojack kept the party going non-stop in the Sahara Tent.

A full recap of Coachella is to come, but in the meantime, here are some pics from Day 1 of the fest.
