Just as her beloved character Karen McCluskey died on the final episode of ABC’s “Desperate Housewives,” actress Kathryn Joosten has lost her battle with lung cancer. She was 72.
Joosten, who won two Emmys for her performance as a nosey neighbor with a heart on Wisteria Lane, died Friday just outside of Los Angeles.
Upon hearing about her death, several of her former costars from “Desperate Housewives” and “The West Wing” took to Twitter to say goodbye.
Brenda Strong, who played Mary Alice on “Desperate,” tweeted “To the memory of an extraordinary woman, actress and friend. Rest in Peace Kathryn Joosten.Wisteria Lane won’t be the same.”
Meanwhile, Dule Hill who costarred with Joosten when she played Mrs. Landingham on “The West Wing,” tweeted “Saddened about the passing of Kathryn Joosten. It was an honor to work with you and an even greater honor knowing you.”
Joosten was a native of Florida who didn’t get her big acting break until she was in her 40s. Her publicist reported that she was surrounded by family when she died.
