Charts: 2 Chainz hits No. 1, ICP bows at No. 4

Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz — you know, the dude who shouts “2 Chaaaainz!” at the beginning of all his verses — debuts at No. 1 on this week’s Billboard albums chart after selling 147,000 copies of his debut solo album “Based on a T.R.U. Story,” according to Nielsen SoundScan. With the robust start for “BOATS,” maybe he can now afford to buy himself some more chainz.

2 Chainz knocks last week’s No. 1, the “Now 43″ hits compilation, to No. 2, as Rick Ross’ latest, “God Forgives, I Don’t,” falls to No. 3.

Meanwhile, Detroit rap duo Insane Clown Posse starts at No. 4 with its latest, “The Mighty Death Pop.” The set, which was sold in three difference collectible editions, sold 41,000 copies its first week. The No. 4 entry matches that of ICP’s last studio set, 2009′s “Bang! Pow! Boom,” though that album started with a healthier 50,000 first-week sales tally.

The latest album from Warped Tour vets Yellowcard, which arrives at No. 10, marks the chart’s other Top 10 debut.

On next week’s chart, look for new arrivals from R&B hitmaker Trey Songz and solo pop act Owl City.
