R&B hitmaker Trey Songz hits No. 1 on this week’s Billboard Top 200 albums chart with his fifth album, “Chapter V.” The set is Songz’ first to hit No. 1; he previously peaked at No. 2 with 2010′s “Passion, Pain & Pleasure,” which featured the hit “Bottoms Up.”
“Chapter V” sold 135,000 copies its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. “P,P&P” debuted with a much more robust 240,000, but hey, that was two years ago.
“Chapter V” is one of four new arrivals in this week’s Top 10; DJ Khaled, Owl City and Tenth Avenue North also debut high this week. Last week’s No. 1, 2 Chainz’ “Based on a T.R.U. Story,” falls to No. 2, while Insane Clown Posse’s “The Mighty Death Pop” drops out of the Top 10.
Meanwhile, Adele’s “21″ slips out of the Top 10 for the first time since its release 79 weeks ago. Adele will now slip into chart obscurity, never to be heard from again.
Next week, new albums from Eminem-backed rap foursome Slaughterhouse and Alanis Morissette look to make big chart debuts.
