Toronto dispatch 2: JoGo, Kick-Ass, Snoop's self-promotion

Well, kind of a botched day. Talked to Aaron Taylor-Johnson (“Kick-Ass”) this morning about Anna Karenina and that went well, but…

Then went to the Snoop Dogg documentary, “Reincarnated,” which was basically a self-aggrandizing overlong promotion for his reggae album. If you want to see Snoop getting wasted, being idolized and rambling incoherently about his “struggle,” this is the movie for you. It wasn’t for me.

And then I spent two hours waiting to interview Joseph Gordon-Levitt for “Looper,” who was a perfectly nice and articulate fellow who likely knew little to nothing about the delay. But by then the movies I’d been hoping to see had already started. Sigh.

Tomorrow I start with “Love is All You Need” by the great Danish director Susanne Bier, hope to catch “Frances Ha” by Noah Baumbach, co-written by star Greta Gerwig (a predicted Oscar contender in 2013), then talk to Naomi Watts, on to “Cloud Atlas,” and finishing out with a party. Ah, Toronto, you beautiful mean witch.
