Zac Brown Band to play Joe Louis Arena on New Year's Eve

Toes in the water, (rear end) in the sand, and “Auld Lang Syne” with 14,000 of your closest friends: Country-rock chart toppers Zac Brown Band will ring in 2013 with a New Year’s Eve concert at Joe Louis Arena, WYCD-FM (99.5)’s morning team announced Thursday.

The announcement was made on-stage at Joe Louis Arena at Eric Church’s concert, prior to Church’s headlining set. Atlanta rockers Blackberry Smoke will open the Dec. 31 show.

Ticket information, including prices and on-sale date, is expected soon.

Zac Brown Band hit No. 1 on Billboard’s albums chart in July with ”Uncaged,” the group’s second No. 1 album. The band’s 2010 album “You Get What You Give” also debuted in the chart’s top spot.

The former Best New Artist Grammy winners are closely associated with Kid Rock; Brown appeared on “Flyin’ High,” a track from Rock’s 2010 album “Born Free.”
