Taylor Swift’s “Red” reassumes its position on top of Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart this week, as the set added an additional 167,000 copies to its sales cume, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album, which has been No. 1 for four non-consecutive weeks, has now sold 2.4 million copies, easily making it one of the year’s runaway smashes.
Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa debuts at No. 2 with his second studio set “O.N.I.F.C.,” which arrives with 141,000 sales. Christmas albums from Rod Stewart (No. 3) and Michael Buble (No. 5) make strong showings, while One Direction’s “Take Me Home” (No. 4) is sandwiched between them in the Top 5. “Take Me Home” will likely to cross the 1 million sales mark this week.
Meanwhile, Ke$ha’s “Warrior” debuts at No. 6 with 85,000 first week sales. The glitter-trash queen’s first album, “Animal,” debuted at No. 1 in 2010 with a much stronger 152,000 sales start.
Next week’s chart will see rappers Big Boi and the Game going after the top spot, along with Bruno Mars, who is weighing in with his second effort, “Unorthodox Jukebox.”
