Motor City Melonade

2 lemons, quartered

1 cup fresh mint leaves

1/3 cup superfine sugar

1/2 medium seedless watermelon (red or yellow) cut into chunks

1 cup vodka

Squeeze lemons into a large pitcher and then toss in the squeezed lemon quarters. Add mint and sugar and muddle until mint is bruised and sugar is dissolved. Puree the watermelon in batches in the blender until smooth and strain though a fine sieve into pitcher (you should have about 8 cups). Stir, add vodka and stir again. This will keep in the fridge for three days if covered. Pour over ice and add a fresh mint sprig to the glass when serving. Makes 8 drinks.
