Brendan Smith could be facing suspension

Rookie defenseman Brendan Smith could be facing a suspension from former Red Wing Brendan Shanahan, the NHL’s new czar of discipline. Brendan Smith nailed Chicago forward Ben Smith in the head with a shoulder check in the third period of Wednesday’s 4-3 Blackhawks victory. Brendan Smith was given a 10-minute misconduct and match penalty (automatic game suspension), and will likely face further discipline from Shanahan, who has been busy this month with numerous infractions.
