Sometimes something big and splashy isn’t needed. Simple works.
Upon Steve Yzerman’s return to Joe Louis Arena as GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Red Wings just completed a nice, tidy, perfect in-game video tribute to their legendary former captain.
It didn’t take long. It didn’t have every memorable moment Yzerman had with the Wings (that would have taken forever). And it came at the first commercial break in the 1st period, after the game began and maybe some fans weren’t even in their seats yet.
But it was perfect. Nothing larger needed to be done.
I’m sure Yzerman, the Wings, everyone at JLA appreciated it.
Nothing over the top. Now, let’s finish the game.
