A nice ending to a neat little story.
Turns out Jakub Kindl did get to meet his boyhood idol, Jaromir Jagr, Sunday when the Flyers were in town.
Kindl had mentioned during the weekend what a fan he was of Jagr growing up in the Czech Republic. Kindl hoped to get one of Jagr’s sticks, maybe signed by Jagr, but didn’t push the idea of actually meeting him. If it happened, great, if not, so be it.
Turns out before the game, when some players from both teams were stretching the hallway, Kindl saw Jagr and approached the future Hall of Famer.
It worked out perfectly, as it turned out.
“He was getting warmed up in the hallway and I went up to him and asked for a stick,” said Kindl, a small smile creasing his face. “I introduced myself to him. He brought it right out. He signed it for me. It was nice.”
