It’s always strange to see Nicklas Lidstrom bothered with any sort of injury.
It’s so rare. Lidstrom never gets hit – by an opposing player, or the puck. Watching him throughout his career, it’s amazing how he avoids putting himself into those types of situations.
So it was eye-opening Friday when Lidstrom caught a puck off a shot in the third period against Nashville and needed a few minutes to lose the numb feeling before returning to the game.
It’s so unnatural to see Lidstrom hobbling, or hurting, anything but on the ice controlling the game for the Wings.
Lidstorm said after the game he was fine and the true test would be how the foot felt Saturday, when the Wings skated outdoors at Clark Park.
There were, said Lidstrom, no issues.
“My foot is fine,” Lidstrom said. “I wanted to test it today and it was good. No problems.”
