Holmstrom draws Red Wings within one

The Red Wings have beat Pekka Rinne on a rebound again, as Tomas Holmstrom beat the outstanding Nashville goaltender with 2:07 left to pull Detroit within one, 3-2, in Game 1 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series.

Things were looking grim for the Wings on the power play. They couldn’t get anything going against Nashville’s penalty kill and couldn’t even get in the zone before the goal.

Seconds after the goal, Nashville almost got it back on a goal-mouth scramble, but the Wings kept it out.

With 1:11 remaining, Jimmy Howard is heading to the bench with an offensive zone faceoff upcoming following an icing.
