The Predators have taken a 2-0 lead after defenseman Kevin Klein jumped into the play, split the defense to go in all alone and beat Jimmy Howard high for a backbreaking goal at 3:50 of the second period.
Martin Erat picked up the assist.
Detroit just looks almost lifeless out there. Prior to the goal, the Red Wings executed one of the worst power play efforts I’ve seen of late, mustering just one shot and having less accurate passing than a low-level high school team. It was almost embarrassing how bad it was. Henrik Zetterberg looked lost out there.
The Red Wings need to change something, anything. They will lose this game by four goals if they keep playing as poor as they are. And make no mistake, Nashville is a big reason why the Wings are playing so poorly, but again, Detroit’s big-time players aren’t doing anything at all. It has to be very troubling to watch if you are a Red Wings fan.
To make matters worse, Johan Franzen is going to the box for slashing Mike Fisher in the offensive zone after giving him a forearm shiver to the back of the head and then a cross check.
