Predators hold 1-0 lead in Game 5 after one period

Nashville leads 1-0 after the opening period of Game 5 of the Western Conference opening-round series, just two periods away from moving on to the second round.

Alexander Radulov took advantage of a Kyle Quincey turnover and beat Jimmy Howard with a wrist shot from point blank range with 3:50 left in the period.

The Red Wings will enter the second period with just under 30 seconds left on their power play.

The Wings had a couple of scoring chances on the power play, including one when Johan Franzen lost the puck while just in front of the net.

Nashville outshot the Wings 10-8 and had a 2-to-1 advantage on faceoffs (12-5).

The Red Wings also had three giveaways and will need to play better in their own zone if they have any hopes of keeping the series alive.
