Jimmy Howard had a fine start today for the United States in a World Championship exhibition game in Sweden.
Howard stopped 31 shots as the USA defeated Sweden 3-2.
The tournament begins Thursday.
Howard played nearly two periods before being replaced by Dallas Stars goalie Richard Bachman.
Justin Abdelkader centered the third line for the USA but didn’t score.
None of the Wings on the Sweden team – Henrik Zetterberg, Johan Franzen, Jonathan Ericsson and Niklas Kronwall – played for Sweden.
