Nashville general manager David Poile traveled to Wisconsin Thursday to meet with defenseman Ryan Suter.
An unrestricted free agent if he’s not signed by July 1, Suter seems to have a productive meeting with Poile in Suter’s off-season home in Madison.
“The meetings were very, very good. They were very positive and very constructive and went through a lot of things,” Poile told The Tennessean. “There’s no negatives that I hear in terms of what would be a reason to not come back to Nashville.
“Having said that, we still don’t have a deal, but I’m still optimistic and still going to keep constant dialogue in this process.”
Poile said more meetings are planned next week.
Suter’s agent Neil Sheehy likewise was positive.
“They went well. We felt that it was worth continuing discussion. We were candid with each other, and our discussions are going to continue to be ongoing,” Sheehy said. “I think we’ve been very candid with each other, and you’re always looking for solutions and that’s why we’re continuing to have dialogue.”
