NHL Awards Show needs to be put out of its misery

Of all the events on the NHL calendar, none are more difficult to watch than the Awards Show and the Entry Draft.
Now, the draft isn’t all that bad Saturday, when rounds two through seven speed by and, of course, there are all the rumors of trades and players who could be on the move.
But Friday’s first round, which lasts approximately three hours, is just too, too long.
It’s become worse than the NFL.
Every pick is analyzed way too long for the sake of television.
And not every one of them deserves the time.
The first day of the draft, actually the first evening, has become a snoozefest.
But even Friday night of the draft isn’t as bad as the NHL Awards Show.
Not even close.
Simply put, let’s put this thing out of its misery.
The skits aren’t funny and are uncomfortable for the people involved. The celebrities are B-list and don’t even look like they want to be there.
The players don’t look comfortable, as well.
The show is a bad idea. The NFL does something similar, but no other sport does so. There’s really not a need for it.
There’s enough bad television as it is.
